In many projects we use CFD or even FSI to determine realistic load cases which can be used in structural simulations. This can improve the accuracy of the simulation of your product significantly.

COMPUTATIONAL FLUID DYNAMICS

Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD) is an advanced simulation technique, used to calculate the motion of fluids and gases. Using CFD, we analyse and identify the liquid and gas flows of the product. Based on this outcome, we determine – together with our client – how to improve the design, resulting in an optimal flow as a result.

FLUID STRUCTURE INTERACTION

Fluid Structure Interaction (FSI) can be used to analyse valves (for example in veins), complex wing motions and other flexible bodies in a flow.
FSI is possible in either a single direction, where the fluid is influenced by the movement of the mechanical object e.g. the influence of a mixer on the fluid or bi-directionally, where the object can also be deformed by the pressure of the fluid.
